Pear Camembert and prosciutto rolls with arugula and chopped pistachios

Pear, Camembert & Prosciutto Rolls

Jump to Recipe

These Pear, Camembert & Prosciutto Rolls are one of those appetizers that look impressive without requiring much work. Sweet pear, creamy Camembert, salty prosciutto and peppery arugula make a simple combination that feels perfect for a holiday platter.

I leave out the honey here because ripe pear already brings enough sweetness. A little pistachio and freshly cracked black pepper are all they need to finish.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • No cooking required
  • Easy to assemble ahead of serving
  • Sweet, salty and creamy without being heavy
  • Beautiful addition to a holiday appetizer platter

Ingredient Notes

Pear: Choose a firm-ripe pear that is sweet but still holds its shape. Bartlett, Anjou or Bosc all work well.

Camembert: Keep it chilled until you are ready to slice it. Cold Camembert is much easier to cut neatly.

Prosciutto: Thinly sliced prosciutto wraps easily around the filling and gives the appetizer its salty balance.

Arugula: A few leaves are enough. Too much makes the rolls harder to eat.

Pistachios: Finely chopped pistachios add crunch and a little colour without overpowering the other ingredients.

How to Make Pear, Camembert & Prosciutto Rolls

Prepare the Ingredients: Cut each prosciutto slice in half crosswise to make 12 pieces. Slice the pear into thin wedges and cut the Camembert into 12 small pieces.

Assemble the Rolls: Lay out a piece of prosciutto and place a small piece of Camembert, one pear wedge and a few arugula leaves near one end.

Roll: Wrap the prosciutto around the filling snugly, leaving some of the pear and arugula visible. Repeat with the remaining ingredients.

Finish: Arrange the rolls on a serving platter. Sprinkle with finely chopped pistachios and freshly ground black pepper. Add a very light drizzle of extra-virgin olive oil if desired.

Serve: Serve soon after assembling, while the pear is fresh and crisp.

Tips

  • Keep the pear wedges fairly slim so the rolls are easy to pick up and eat.
  • Don’t overfill them. A small amount of Camembert gives plenty of flavour.
  • If preparing the ingredients ahead, slice the pear close to serving time to prevent browning.
  • Keep the Camembert chilled until cutting for cleaner pieces.

Make Ahead

The Camembert, prosciutto, arugula and pistachios can all be prepared ahead and refrigerated separately. For the freshest appearance and texture, slice the pear and assemble the rolls shortly before serving.
