Open suitcase packed for a Caribbean vacation with sun hat and sandals

What to Pack for a 7-Day All-Inclusive Caribbean Vacation

Packing for a week at an all-inclusive resort doesn’t mean bringing your entire closet.

Most days are spent in a swimsuit and cover-up, so you can pack surprisingly light. Here’s a practical list of what you’ll actually use.

👙 Beach & Pool

  • 2–3 swimsuits
  • 1–2 cover-ups
  • Flip-flops
  • Sunglasses
  • Sun hat
  • Beach bag
  • Sunscreen
  • Reusable water bottle

VitaRei Tip: Bring at least two swimsuits so you always have a dry one ready.

👗 Clothes

Keep it simple and choose pieces you can mix and match.

  • 3–4 lightweight tops
  • 2 pairs of shorts
  • 2–3 dresses or dinner outfits
  • 1 lightweight pair of pants
  • Underwear
  • Pajamas

You can easily wear a casual dress during the day and dress it up for dinner with different accessories.

👡 Shoes — Keep It to Three!

You really don’t need a suitcase full of shoes.

  • Flip-flops for the beach and pool
  • Comfortable sneakers for travel, walking or excursions
  • One pair of sandals or dressier shoes for dinner

Wear the bulkiest pair on the plane and pack the other two.

🧴 Toiletries

Travel sizes are usually plenty for a one-week vacation.

  • Toothbrush and toothpaste
  • Deodorant
  • Skincare and makeup
  • Hair products
  • Sunscreen
  • After-sun lotion or aloe
  • Insect repellent
  • SPF lip balm

💊 Travel Medicine Kit

This is one area where it’s worth being prepared. Resort shops may have a limited selection, and you may not find the same over-the-counter medications you’re used to using at home.

Consider bringing:

  • Prescription medications
  • Pain and fever medication
  • Antihistamine or allergy medication
  • Motion-sickness medication
  • Antacid or heartburn medication
  • Anti-diarrheal medication
  • Oral rehydration salts or electrolyte packets
  • Bandages and antiseptic wipes
  • After-bite treatment for insect bites
  • Any cold medication you normally use

You don’t need a full pharmacy — just small quantities of the basics your family normally reaches for at home.

VitaRei Tip: Keep prescription medications and anything you may need during your flight in your carry-on.

📱 Electronics

Keep this minimal too:

  • Phone
  • Charger
  • Portable power bank
  • Earbuds or headphones

Add an e-reader or tablet only if you know you’ll actually use it.

🛂 Travel Essentials

Keep these in your carry-on:

  • Passport
  • Wallet and credit card
  • Travel confirmations
  • Travel insurance information
  • Prescription medications
  • Phone and charger
  • Swimsuit
  • One change of clothes
  • Sunglasses

That swimsuit is especially useful if you arrive before your room is ready — you can head straight to the pool instead of waiting around in your travel clothes.

🧳 The Golden Rule: Don’t Overpack

For a 7-day Caribbean vacation, you don’t need seven daytime outfits, seven dinner outfits and six pairs of shoes.

Pack pieces you can wear more than once, leave a little room in your suitcase, and remember: you’re going to spend a lot of the week in a swimsuit anyway.

Before leaving, check your airline’s baggage allowance and your resort’s restaurant dress code so there are no surprises.

Then zip up the suitcase and enjoy your vacation.

Happy travels!
